I'm Tiago Santos & I'm a Quality Assurance Engineer. I'm from an amazing & proud town of Penafiel. Many people in Smartex are from Penafiel.
1. What surprised you most when you joined Smartex?
I can think of three things that surprised me the most. First, the big amount of waste that is produced in the textile industry which I didn't have a clue of at all. The huge complexity & variety of the textile industry. Definitely there is a lot of waste being produced & it isn't talked about enough.
I had an idea already of what the company is but I was definitely blown away of the culture of the company it's like never seen anything like it. We don't have problems being with each other outside of work. We always have fun with each other & that is really important to me because it really brings joy to the place of work.
2. Describe your role at Smartex. What keeps you busy?
Because I work in the Quality Assurance side, we have many issues to tackle & our main focus is to find as many problems & release our product to the client without any problems. We are not like a normal company where we focus only on software, we also focus in hardware. Network is a big major issue in the textile industry & we just have many different problems to solve during the day & we work very hard to do it.
3. What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I like a lot to play football (not soccer, football) it's one of my passions since I'm five years old so - many years playing & always kept me active. My dream was to be a professional football player but I'm really not that good at it so I discovered another thing that I really care about to do, & it's this.
4. What three words would you use to describe Smartex?
First would be "culture" as I said before, culture is a very important thing in the company. The other one is "mission" the mission to reduce the waste of the textile industry. The other one is having "fun" because we have a lot of fun also.
