PRODUTECH R3

Project

Produtech R3 - Recovery-Resilience-Reindustrialization - Agenda for mobilizing the production technologies sector for reindustrialization

Objective

The PRODUTECH R3 project aims to induce a structural change in the Production Technologies Sector, enabling it to exploit the significant investments that the industry will make with the green and digital transition, reducing external technological dependence, increasing the added value generated in the country and contributing to a change in the specialization of the Portuguese economy.

Based on a partnership that brings together 108 companies and other entities, from the FTP, the main sectors of industry, and the scientific and technological system, the project provides for the collaborative development of 85 new innovative products and services. They will be demonstrated in more than 52 pilots in companies in the end-user sectors and the development of complementary actions in the areas of education and training, internationalization, dissemination, and capacity building of the FTP. The project will induce structural change and the creation of a true eco-system of innovation in the area of production technologies, which is dynamic and sustainable.

Description

The Innovation Pact PRODUTECH R3 is presented as a strategic and integrated initiative, composed of a set of programs aimed at:

  • Transformation of the industry, implementing the development and transfer of R&D and its transformation into new products and services (namely production technologies), empowering and supporting companies in this sector in the associated innovation processes, but also supporting companies in user sectors to adopt and endogenize these new technologies in their production systems, contributing to competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience;

  • Qualification of the industry for resilience, growth, and innovation;

  • Capacity building and professional training in innovative production technologies, thus supporting the desired transformation;

  • Internationalization of companies;

  • Broad promotion and dissemination of the Pact and its results.

This approach aims to take advantage of the transversal nature of production technologies and cross-fertilization processes, leveraging the positioning of companies in the production technologies sector and promoting knock-on effects for the entire national economic fabric.

The Innovation Pact is structured into 15 transforming programs, which are grouped into 5 areas:

  • A - Customization of products and proximity production;

  • B - Adaptive, collaborative, and competitive production;

  • C - Interoperable, intelligent, and autonomous production systems;

  • D - New technologies for the production and use of advanced materials;

  • E - Efficiency in the use of resources and direct integration of renewable energies in the production processes that are oriented towards the development of new products and services for the industry, through collaboration between FTP companies, companies from the user sectors, and ENESIIs, designed to promote synergies at the level of technological development and applicability in a wide number of user sectors.

The PRODUTECH R3 is also composed of 3 horizontal programs, oriented to complementary related areas, such as capacity building and training, internationalization and qualification, and 2 support programs, directed to the wide dissemination of the initiative and its results, as well as the management and global coordination of the agenda.

Consortium

The innovation pact PRODUTECH R3 brings together a national consortium of 108 partners from various areas and sectors of national industry, namely 45 companies that supply production technologies, 37 companies that use production technologies, from the manufacturing industry, 26 ENESIIs (Entities of the National Scientific and Technological System, Technology Centres, Sectoral Entities)
